This area is simply gorgeous, offering amazing views over the Tuscan countryside. Many holidaymakers flock here for its laid-back atmosphere and mild climate.

But it’s more than that: its beauty lies in its simplicity – Bagno Vignoni’s streets are made up of winding cobbled alleys, old stone houses, modest bars, and eateries set against a backdrop of olive groves. This delightful cocktail makes it one of Italy’s most beautiful villages.

Bagno Vignoni is a small town in the San Quirico d’Orcia. Val d’Orcia is located in the province of Siena, Tuscany.

This village is known for several peculiarities.
The most important thing concerns the waters that flow here, used since ancient Roman times as thermal waters.

These springs come from volcanic origin aquifers that then flow hot and steaming in the main Piazza Delle Sorgenti, where they are collected from a large rectangular tank.

The water flows at 52°C from the spring, which is about 1000 meters deep. When it comes into contact with cold air, especially in winter, the temperature of the water creates particular scenographic effects with condensation floating on the surface.

The square is surrounded by palaces, flowering balconies, artisan shops, and paved streets that make Bagno Vignoni one of Italy’s most beautiful villages. If you’ve never seen her, visit her. It’s a very charming place.

Another peculiarity of Bagno Vignoni, more recent, concerns the number of inhabitants.
In the 2001 census, only 30 people were registered here.
Very strange for a place in the center of Tuscany.

Thanks to its beauty and resources, Bagno Vignoni has been frequented by several prominent historical figures. Caterina da Siena, Lorenzo de’ Medici, Pope Pius II, and many others have undergone this place’s charm out of time.

Bagno Vignoni is located within the Natural Artistic Park of the Val d’Orcia, and its thermal waters head towards the Natural Park of mills, where there are four mills carved into the rock.

The whole village is in an extraordinary state of conservation.
You can still wander through its narrow streets and be catapulted back centuries.

Bagno Vignoni is located in an area surrounded by renowned places to visit, such as Pienza, Montalcino, Chianciano Terme. Therefore, if you are in the area, for example on holiday in Punta Ala, you can spend a day visiting several wonderful and interesting places.
